8th Graders become Wild Life Forensics at the Detroit Zoo!

Emerson 8th graders recently took a trip to the Detroit Zoo to become Forensic Scientists for a day. They learned how you can use scientific methods to study potential crimes committed against wildlife? This field of study is known as wildlife forensics. Learners worked in small groups to use science process skills as they investigate a simulated wildlife crime scene and document their findings. Learners re-articulated bones to identify the animal and their cause of death, communicating their evidence-based findings back to the larger group as they reflect on the overall process and the importance of this growing career opportunity

Students had a very fulfilling experience and did an excellent job reporting their findings.
